BLIND FURY !!!!!

I did this Watercolor  painting today of "Zato no Ichi " the blind swordsman Character portrayed by Japanese actor Shintaro Katsu in 26 films.  I was inspired after I spent saturday with my friend Take' we started our day by going to a gallery in Chelsea to see Shigeru Mizuki Watercolor prints. (Mizuki is japanese illustrator famous for his images and stories of Yokai japanese ghosts, he also created  Gegege no Kitaro which happens to be Take's childhood favorite.) Take' and I traveled through the village all day ending up at Union Sq. where i purchased the 26th Zatoichi film on DVD, I think now my inspiration is clear to you all.

This past weekend was the 1940's Horror theme Art Show @ Reciprocal Skateboards . The Show was organized and ran by Miss Guns, Once again she put together another successful event. I am constantly challenged by Shannon's shows, even though this only being my 4 th  acrylic painting its one of my best pieces over all. Thanks to those who came and thanks again to Shannon and the fellas at Reciprocal Skates.

Shaolin Kitty

This was my submitted painting for the Berkeley Humane Society Charity Art Show. I of course love animals so this was a chance to help out  for a great cause. I think this piece has motivated me to do a mini Graphic Novel based on the monk and kitty's journey.

Two Art Shows this Week... BIG WEEK!!!

Thats right its a big week I'm in Two Art shows one in Brooklyn @ Tattoo Culture on Saturday. And the other is at Reciprocal Skate shop in Manhattan on Sunday. ZEN and the Toilet

This is a watercolor sketch i did based on japanese paintings from the 1600's. I like the single focus zen topics of the period. I gave this to my friend Marie as a small Birthday gift and told her to stick in the bathroom.  (You  have a real painting coming......... soon..)

Heres todays sketch. This is a Character for a comic me and a friend had pitched to Kevin Eastman , we wont go in to what happened but i will say Kevin didnt reject us.(it was our fault it didnt happen...P.S. thank you Kevin. a highlight in my life.) But anyway i still love to draw the characters.....maybe someday. (also dont steal, this whole book was copyrighted sucas!!)

Lucky Kitty

Below is an illustration i had done last January  for an entry in the Lucky Kitty art show @ the Toy Tokyo Show room in Manhatten. The theme was to do a version of the Maneki Neko 招き猫 (or lucky cat).  so being the nerd i am i did one as Boba Fett & one as Jabba the Hutt ( i will post the jabba one as soon as i can) from Star Wars .  Thanks again to peter Kato i had so much fun doing that show.
